Nazeel azami biography

Nazeel Azami (Bengali: নাজিল আজামি; born August 1981) is a Britishsinger-songwriter of spiritual music.

Education and background

Nazeel Azami is of Bangladeshi descent, and grew up in London and Manchester.

He went to a primary school in London, secondary schools in 3 different countries, and attended University of Manchester studying BScPhysics with BusinessManagement, and PGCE.^[1]

He developed his music talent at a very young age after his mother encouraged him to memorise and recite classical, traditional poetry and songs.

He was further influenced by his maternal uncle who was also a singer-songwriter and poet.^[2][3]

Career

Azami started his new career signed to Awakening Records, with his first album in 2006. Previously he had featured as a backing vocalist on British Muslim singer Sami Yusuf's first album Al-Mu`allim.

He sings in a number of languages including, English, Bengali, Arabic and Urdu.^[1]
